Every Good and Perfect Gift…

“Into the woods we return to reason and faith.”   (Ralph Waldo Emerson 1803-1882)

Our summer brings a mixture of people from a variety of different places.  Our population triples, and areas where there are usually tumbleweeds rolling down the main road 10 months of the year turn into one-stop-shopping, dining, and luxurious get away experiences for thousands of cottagers .  For miles and miles on the highway you can see countless SUV’s and trucks stuck in gridlock loaded with their boats, jet skis, campers, kayaks, bikes, and fishing rods (to name a few)  All trying to squeeze into this beautiful place we call “Home” all year round.  But the people aren’t coming here because of their boats and campers and kayaks-  They are coming to experience Gods creation in one form or another.  Whether its sitting on their dock while sipping on a coffee early in the morning, or going fishing -just to get out on the water, or packing a lunch and enjoying an afternoon of hiking trails-  Regardless if they are Atheist, undecided, or have a little mockery “Jesus fish” with little legs on it glued to the bumper of their car, they are all worshiping God- intentionally, or un-intentionally.

I am often reminded of Romans 1:20 when I witness an incredible sunset, or admire tall trees, or put on goggles and go snorkeling – “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

Try and explain that to somebody, only using words- they can Clearly See His Invisible Qualities  –  Unless you are a biblical theologian – good luck!    Just tell them to stick their head outside for a minute and LOOK!!!!  Its incredible!

I’ve made a few cutting boards in a wood working class a few years ago, I spent hours on them- cutting, gluing, and sanding-  the finished product was my design and creation, and I was proud of them.  Every time I go to someones house and they are using the cutting board that I made I receive a feeling of joy and satisfaction.  We are wired to feel that way because we are made in Gods image.  Angela and I try to consciously spend time with God and worship Him by enjoying his creation, because He is delighted when we do!

Last night we went on a bike ride in our town with some friends to admire the landscape and took these pictures:
